A busy few weeks!

This school year has been just flying in and the boys have all been so busy learning and having fun!

Senior Infants

Senior Infants have enjoyed taking part in Maths stations. During stations each group spends 10 minutes on an activity and when the time is up they move to their next task. This month they have been practising their numbers with playdough, playing maths games on the iPad, cutting and sticking pictures to make patterns and practising number facts in their Maths Books.

1st class

1st class are taking part in Lift-Off to Literacy this term.

Literacy Lift-Off is a whole-class intervention aimed at increasing each child’s competency in oral language, reading and writing. Diverse activities are essential for extending literacy processing power. Hence, the pupils work in ‘stations’ to carry out a number of activities in reading and writing, over the course of an hour, under the guidance of 4 teachers.

During each Literacy Lift-Off session, children experience five activities:

  • Oral Language
  • Familiar Reading
  • Word Work
  • Writing
  • New Book

4th class

4th class are using the computer programming language, Scratch. Using Scratch the children are enabled to think creatively, work collaboratively and apply problem-solving skills. The boys really enjoyed creating computer games using Scratch and showing them to the other groups in the class!
